8 Muslim states condemn Israel's settlement activities, settler violence against Palestinians

ISLAMABAD, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Eight Muslim-majority countries on Thursday condemned Israel's approval of more than 30 new settlements and escalating settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Trkiye, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates considered Israel's approval of the new settlements as "a flagrant violation of international law," and denounced recent settler attacks on Palestinian schools and children.

Such actions undermine the two-state solution and peace efforts, the ministers said in a joint statement.

They also condemned repeated incursions by Israeli settlers and extremist ministers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under Israeli police protection, reaffirming support for an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
