Bangladesh's remittances reach nearly 20 bln USD in July-Jan.

DHAKA, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Remittances from overseas Bangladeshis in the July-January period of the current fiscal year 2025-2026 totaled nearly 20 billion U.S. dollars, the central bank reported Sunday.

According to the Bangladesh Bank data, the remittances increased by 21.8 percent year on year to 19.436 billion dollars from July 2025 to January 2026.

The remittances hit an all-time high of over 30 billion dollars in the fiscal year 2024-25.

As one of the key sources of foreign exchange for the nation, most remittances come from Middle East countries, such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
