(260515) -- GAZA CITY, May 15, 2026 (Xinhua) -- A member of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) attends the eighth general conference of Fatah at Al-Azhar University in Gaza City, on May 14, 2026. The conference on Thursday re-elected Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as the movement's leader, according to Palestinian official news agency WAFA.
The three-day conference opened on Thursday simultaneously in the West Bank city of Ramallah, the Gaza Strip, Cairo, and Beirut. It is expected to elect the movement's two highest leadership bodies -- the Central Committee and the Revolutionary Council. (Photo by Rizek Abdeljawad/Xinhua)
